Mobility Competence Group<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

In 2023, the Mobility Competence Group further established itself, and the community and circle of interested and committed member companies expanded. The focal topics of the Competence Group were the generation, storage, and use of mobility data for mobility solutions and smart mobility concepts, as well as driving forward sustainable mobility more strongly. In addition, the \u201cMobility Talk\u201d event series, launched in the previous year in cooperation with the Mobility Data Space, further solidified its presence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why data sharing and secure storage are a must for the mobility industry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a joint webinar, the Mobility Competence Group addressed this question with the Car Repair 4.0 project. Many industries have adopted the motto, \u201cData is the new gold\u201d, and recognised that the collaborative use of data is a driver of digitalisation and is essential for the development of new business models along a sustainable value chain. The mobility sector, especially the automotive industry, also aims to exploit the \u201cdata treasure\u201d in order to \u201cmonetise\u201d its services and offerings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The role trustworthy architectures play in data collection and data sharing was discussed in more detail with various speakers. It became clear that we are still in the early stages of data sharing and that a culture of data exchange needs to be established. In this context, Gaia-X is as important as a shared transport network \u2013 with standard rules and participants who are able to move around safely. The initiative not only creates comparable but also standardised infrastructures that can fundamentally change the way data is handled. New data spaces being created in the EU can orient themselves toward Gaia-X in the future. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Urban Mobility: Interplay of IoT and Mobility for the Implementation of Mobility Solutions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At the meeting of the Mobility Competence Group \u201cUrban Mobility \u2013 Interplay of IoT and Mobility for the Implementation of Mobility Solutions\u201d, in the context of urban mobility, eco brought together various experts from the mobility and IoT sectors to discuss topics such as data generation, data utilisation, data economy and data policy. Together with our host, WOBCOM in Wolfsburg, and our Leader of Mobility Competence Group, Giovanni Coppa, we were able to implement an exciting thematic focus and therefore a content-rich Competence Group meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This clearly showed how indispensable data usage is for mobility solutions in all areas. Various use cases were discussed, such as smart parking, which is particularly important in the smart city context to minimise parking search traffic in cities, among other aspects. There were also exciting insights into the field of emergency mobility, the possibilities of data spaces, and the shared use of (mobility) data. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Collaborative data usage \u2013 an essential component of the mobility industry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Collecting, analysing, and processing data in real time is now a reality in the mobility industry and is essential for the future of mobility and related areas. This can make mobility more efficient, sustainable, innovative and customer-friendly. It also creates space for new business models and opportunities for collaboration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharing and, above all, the joint use of data is an inevitable development in the mobility industry. Whether it is avoiding a breakdown on the motorway through predictive maintenance or automatically arranging appointments for the annual tyre change, traffic analyses, forecasts, and simulations can be used in urban development to save time, costs, and energy. Mobility services can also be better realised through appropriate links. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New organisational structures, applications and mobility services are possible by sharing and linking data. From an economic perspective, there is enormous potential to save costs and increase efficiency. We discussed these opportunities for collaborative data usage with the speakers and participants at our host Google in Berlin and shed light on which applications are already working successfully and where there is still potential to be discovered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Berlin \u201cMobility Talk\u201d: Data makes you mobile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDigital business models, data sharing and data usage as drivers of sustainable, innovative and multimodal mobility solutions\u201d \u2013 under this motto, eco and the Mobility Data Space invited various experts to Berlin for an exclusive Mobility Talk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mobility is increasingly being offered and accepted in the form of \u201cmobility-as-a-service\u201d solutions. This requires data, data exchange to optimise usage, real-time data analysis, connected service platforms, efficient digital infrastructures and the trust and participation of citizens to create a mobility ecosystem that meets the needs of users. Car manufacturers, mobility service providers, local and long-distance public transport and energy suppliers are all part of the solutions and innovations in the transport sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital infrastructures form the foundation of intelligent transport and a functioning mobility system. The various challenges of the mobility transition, innovative mobility concepts and implementations, as well as the current situation at a political level surrounding the Mobility Data Act and the Data Act, were discussed. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
