Datacenter Star Audit

The goal of the Datacenter Star Audit is the assessment of the performance of data centre infrastructure on the basis of an objective catalogue of criteria. The first ideas in this regard were developed back in 2005. eco launched it a year later and has since evaluated and certified numerous data centres with this independent instrument.

In addition to the overall redundancy assessment of the data centre, the evaluation also includes security aspects from the areas of Organisational Security, Structural Building Security, Supply Security and Technical Security. The evaluation of the data centre is carried out according to predefined criteria and evaluation matrices by at least two independent auditors. The auditing is valid for two years. At the end of this period of validity, the certified company must undergo a new audit.

The customers of data centre operators benefit here from increased market transparency. The auditing itself can be used as a basis for assessments by auditors, banks and insurance companies.

In 2023, four A1 Telekom Austria AG data centres in Vienna (three audits at two locations) and one data centre in Linz were successfully recertified once again. The data centres at the “Wien Arsenal” site and the data centre in Linz were awarded a green star for energy-efficient operation in addition to a successful 4-star audit. The network of three data centres in Vienna was also awarded a 5-star result in the interconnected site category.

In addition to the certificates awarded in November 2023, the first preparatory talks for upcoming recertifications in 2024 were also successfully held.
